Alan D. Marcus, D.D.S., M.S.D.

Meet-the-Doctor-pic722.jpgDr. Marcus has been in private practice serving families and individuals in the Bay Area for more than 40 years. His father, Dr. Irwin Marcus was an orthodontist in San Francisco and Millbrae, and Dr. Alan Marcus joined him after completing his orthodontic residency. They practiced together for five years before Dr. Irwin Marcus retired in 1989.

For many years, Dr. Marcus has been actively involved in the Millbrae/Burlingame community. He was born in San Francisco and raised in Burlingame. He attended Lincoln Elementary School, followed by Burlingame Intermediate School and then Mills High School. Dr. Marcus received his undergraduate degree at the University of California in Santa Barbara. In 1985, he completed his orthodontic training and residency at the University of the Pacific Dental School (UOP). For several years, he taught Clinical Orthodontics at UOP.

In 1993, he completed a two-year post graduate course taught by Dr. Ronald Roth. This course concentrated on the importance of the jaw joint in achieving a correct bite. As a graduate of the Roth Williams Center for Functional Occlusion, he specializes in the discipline of functional bites.

His passion for orthodontics and new technology continues today. Each year he takes extensive continuing education courses to keep up with the new developments in the field of orthodontics. He also maintains memberships with numerous prestigious organizations such as:

In his spare time, he is an avid Giants fan, enjoys traveling, photography and jazz.
